Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. What is cockiness? It’s really over confidence mixed with an overblown belief that you are better than someone else or that your opinions are better than the other person. Pride is not a bad thing, if it is focused on who deserves the credit. God blessed you to be smart, to be athletic or to be any other “thing” you happen to be! The Bible says in everything, glorify God!

Remember The Big Picture

Psalms 118:24

This is the day which the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Sometimes we live our lives without seeing the big picture. Can you imagine a truly needy person living in a hut with no food and unsanitary water hearing us whine about our stressful lives in America? Can you imagine waking up every day with terminal cancer, being completely paralyzed? Our challenges are unbelievably minor compared to REAL challenges that people face in life. And, those with HUGE challenges again and again show their resilience and strength by taking each day as a blessing.

Rather than making life a drag by “thinking” we have it bad or we’re somehow not feeling good, we should wake up every day, get on our knees and thank God that we are so very, very blessed. The truth is you should rejoice, be thankful and take a moment to realize this day is a blessing from God. If it was your last day on earth, would you be more loving? More appreciative? Would you call your Mom and tell her you love her?“This is the day which the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

There’s good news for the truly poor person and physically challenged folks too! Regardless of the challenges here on earth, God will take care of them too. In Heaven, we’ll all be perfect in every way. We’ll be healed of all imperfections, and we’ll know everything just like God Himself! With that assurance in our life, why wouldn’t we have an awesome day today and every day?

Get real people, acknowledge your blessings! Be glad God allowed you this day and make it a happy day!

Now, call your Mom(s) and tell her you love her!!!

A personal message …

These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publically, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson
