1 Thessalonians 5:16-18“Be Happy!”
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Did you realize God’s will for you is to be joyful? To pray and give thanks in all circumstances? Sometimes, religious folks make you think the only way to be a Christian is to be stuffy, boring and pious. But this passage makes it clear; God wants you to be joyful! You aren’t supposed to be depressed. You aren’t supposed to be negative. You aren’t supposed to be fearful. None of these emotions are promoted in God’s Word. So where do these negative emotions come from?
Negative emotions come from thinking about bad things. Things that make you feel bad create a sense of despair and hopelessness, if you dwell on them too long. The devil loves this habit of stinkin’ thinkin’! Then he can give you those thoughts of “So what, let’s party to forget our troubles.” But the reality is those troubles are just figments of your imagination. It’s the devil messing with you to get you off the focus of good things. Don’t fall for it. When you start feeling blue, focus on your blessings, say a prayer to God to thank Him for those blessings and watch your attitude turn positive!! Then get up off your backside and go do something positive. Before you know it you’ll be joyful and focused on the right stuff. Don’t stay in neutral, the evil one will run you over if you just sit there!
Be joyful always...Be happy and do good!
A personal message...
“These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publicly, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson”
