Romans 12:19 “Forget It, God Has It!”

Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is Mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

It’s a whole lot easier to be forgiving and overlook people that offend you when you know God is the Great Scorekeeper. There are many scriptures saying the same basic thing, “I am God, and I got this!”

It’s easy to feel like people who do wrong just get away with it without ramification. But, if you know God, you KNOW He keeps His promises. If God says, “I will repay,” then you can take that to the bank. Based on that assurance, you no longer need to feel anger or thoughts of revenge. Instead, you can truly feel sorry for the person because anyone who is on the wrong side of a fight with God doesn’t have a good future in store!

Remember, when someone treats you horrible, smile and be nice; act like whatever they said or did had no effect on you whatsoever. Then, find something, anything, to say nice back to them. When they don’t get a return fight, they’ll normally leave you alone. They might be snide as they walk away, but remember what they have in store based on God’s repayment schedule. That’s way better than anything you could do!

Anger, resentment, revenge…all of these words create an ill-will, an uneasy spirit that feels tense and uneasy. But, when you turn the bad thoughts to thoughts of “God, you take it, I don’t want to feel like this,” you free yourself to get focused on good and positive things, your values and goals and aspirations to make a positive difference. When you focus there, great things happen for you and you feel energized and empowered!

Revenge? Forget it and leave room for the Big Guy’s wrath. No need to waste energy and focus on negative; go focus on making a positive difference!

A personal message...

“These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publicly, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson”
