Proverbs 13:4 “Diligence Matters”
“The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.”
Over and over, in multiple ways, God tells us those that work hard and give it their best effort AND are focused on the right things for the right reasons, will be blessed. When God says, “fully satisfied,” that’s enough for any of us. On the other hand, once again God warns us that taking the easy road or being a sluggard leads to nothing, and when God says “nothing,” that’s pretty clear as well.
The bottom line is God wants you to pursue something meaningful and productive that will glorify Him. If you think about it, He’s being very fair. If you focus on things that help God’s purpose, He’ll help you. If you just want to cruise along with a free ride in life, He really doesn’t feel obligated to bless your work when you won’t help yourself or apply your talents to the best of your ability.
God blessed each of you with incredible intelligence, an unbelievable country to live in and resources most people can only dream of. Don’t think so? Travel to Haiti and see how poverty lives, and you’ll really focus on how blessed we are! That means the bar is higher for you than most people. God wants a return on His investment; not to earn blessings, but to show you have humility and appreciation for the blessings you’ve been given.
Get your heart focused and your positive habits building a foundation of a successful life, and God says you’ll be fully satisfied!

“These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publicly, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson”
