Proverbs 16:24 “Be Nice!”

"Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”

“What goes around comes around.” It’s a concept that works in every part of our life.

If we smile at other people as we walk down the street, they will nearly always smile back. If we frown and look mean, people will avoid looking at us or frown back! Do you want to go through life with people that smile or frown at you? Smile and the world will smile back! Look people in the eye when you are approaching them, and they will return your respect and smile.

If you say something positive, encouraging or sincerely complimentary every time you talk with a person, they will enjoy talking with you, and they will say nice things back to you. If you say something mean or even think negative thoughts when you speak to someone, they’ll argue back and be mean to you as well. Say something positive, encouraging or complimentary and people will like you in return. Be sincere and be specific, and people will beam with pride!

If you add value to other people when you interact with them, they’ll appreciate your kind words. If we take value from people by hurting their self-esteem, wasting their time or devaluing them as a person, they will return those things to us. Provide value to people every day. Find their need or interest and provide something to help them! Open a door, be polite and just be courteous!

Take a post-it-note and write this on it:

For the next 30 days, put a check mark by each reminder every time you do it during the day. You’ll be amazed how much life improves when you look right past the negative junk and add positives to people. It can literally change your attitude and the attitude of the people around you! That’s the stuff real leadership is made of in this world!! Grandma was right, “You’ll catch more bees with honey than with vinegar!”

A personal message...

“These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publicly, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson”
