Hebrews 10:38-39 “Don’t Shrink”
“But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.”
“Not of those who shrink back.” When you focus on God and God’s Word, it’s easy to stay strong and show faith. But, when we don’t stay focused on God, we quickly begin to forget everything we learned. We fall back into old habits and kind of just let God fall, “out of sight and out of mind.”
The problem with being a Christian is the process of becoming a spiritual being in a physical world. Unless you focus and study God’s Word every day, and take the time to listen to God’s guidance through prayer, the physical “in your face” world will drown out your faith. That’s why starting every day with devotion and prayer is so important. You have to make a habit of focusing on being a spiritual being. Then, the rewards God promises will become more and more evident.
Your faith will grow as you make yourself study and think. As your knowledge grows, you’ll get a momentum from the results of better and better habits. Good actions beget good results. The more you do good, the less time is available for the evil one to sneak onto your schedule. In the end, that’s the trick, keep your daily agenda full of good, productive, godly actions and the evil one will leave you alone.
Eternal life is too important to shrink back from, isn’t it?
A personal message...
“These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publicly, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson”
