Psalms 23 - "Peace In Troubled Times”
"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me besides the still waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever."
When challenges make life feel difficult, it helps to remember our God is right beside us. When things happen in our lives that seem to make no sense, we have to trust God has a reason for it. When sorrow fills our heart, we have to ask for hope, healing and strength. God is in control of everything that occurs, and we are students of our God. No matter how much we question what is happening when challenges enter our lives, we can never forget that God is omnipotent and perfect. Whatever God determines will happen, that’s the way it will be. Our job is to pray for help and understanding. We are told by God that we have no ability to comprehend everything about God or His methods. Instead, you have to show faith that the reasons will be clear when we are in heaven someday, and we just have to be open to learning what God wants us to learn. It might be a lesson. It might be a course correction to new goals. It might be a wake-up call! Whatever it is, quiet your mind and LISTEN!!
When blessings happen in our life, we have to pray thanks and appreciation. So often, we are oblivious to how fragile life is, and we take our blessings for granted. That we have the ability to take a breath and have this day, is a blessing. That we can live in the greatest country in the history of the world, is an amazing blessing. That we have a God that by grace has provided an eternal life in heaven, is a major blessing! Let’s renew our thankfulness, our appreciation and our ability to live in the current moment. Don’t let the worries and stresses of the day allow you to forget the important priorities. The eternal priorities!
Keep Psalms 23 near to your heart. It will give you peace whenever you need it.
A personal message...
“These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publicly, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson”
