Proverbs 12:4 “The Spouse”
A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.
A spouse is a life-long decision. A decision you hope to live with for the rest of your life. As this scripture says, a wife of noble character makes a man feel like a king. He can be proud of his spouse, and it’s the same for a women and her husband. A spouse of noble character means the person lives a godly life, and the things they do and the actions they take make their spouse proud of them.
Common sense says that when a spouse of poor character disgraces their spouse, it is painful and degrading. You know how bad you feel when you do something bad yourself. Now imagine when your spouse does something bad or disgraceful, and you have to live with their bad actions that you didn’t even do! Ah, but, you decided to commit to that spouse, and that decision you made will be judged by others for as long as you’re married. So, pick your spouse well. Don’t rush things. Make sure you know your spouse and their family are people of good character. If they raised your spouse, you know their influence is strongly ingrained in that person’s habits. Be careful! It’s a vital decision. Be sure God has your back!
The good news is, a spouse that is a person of character will make your life a happy one. When you see them do good, you can be proud. When you see them happy, it makes you happy. When you look at them, you see more than their youthful good looks; you see their good heart! In God’s book and a spouse’s book, there’s nothing more beautiful than a good person to spend the rest of your life with.
Noble character. If that’s what you should look for in a spouse, isn’t that what you should be as a person, so you’ll attract the kind of good person you hope to marry? Just sayin’!
A personal message...
“These devotions were written to my four children, Christian, Mike, Allison and Alex. By the kids allowing these to be shared publicly, our hope is that the devotions will make a positive and eternal difference in the lives of other young people as they mature. Enjoy. Rick Isaacson”
